Review-The Girl Who Leapt Through Time

Posted by Carmelita on December 5, 2011 at 11:45 AM

Original Story by Yasutaka Tsutsui

Screenplay by Satoko Okudera

Music by Kyoshi Yoshida

Directed by Mamoru Hosoda

Produced by Bandai Entertainment Inc. and Kadakawa Pictures in Association with Ocean Productions Inc.

I must say that I enjoyed watching this movie very much. The protagonist, Makoto, a tomboyish high school student, discovers she has the ability to travel to the past. With clean and colorful art and laugh out loud moments, this movie immediately caught my interest. Above all else, though, the story shines. Storytelling of this quality is the best--gripping, touching and above all rare. Not many movies can have such a different storyline and hold interest down to the last moment. A fulfilling sense of emotional suspense holds the viewer's attention and leads to a satisfying ending. I wholehearedtly recomend this movie to anyone, whether an otaku looking for a new favorite or a movie lover experiencing anime for the first time.
