Posted by Carmelita on April 25, 2012 at 4:00 PM Comments comments (0)

Original Story by Eiko Kadono

Screenplay by Hayao Miyazaki

Music by Joe Hisaishi

Produced and Directed by Hayao Miyazaki

This movie, in classic Miyazaki fashion, presents gorgeous visuals and wonderful story telling. A young witch named Kiki decides to leave home, as she has come of age. The story explores her new life, with friendship ringing true as a theme. The story seems almost "calmer" when compared to that of "Spirited Away", but has faster pacing than the rece...

Every month we partner up with Funimation and the Park Circle Film Society to bring our members a free showing of an anime or Kung Fu movie. This is a review of this months movie- T.O.

From the producer of Appleseed, T.O. is two shorts about mankind and space travel. The first short is about a spacestation and what space travel would do to relationships. This is the best short of the two. The story has a twist that you will not see coming and the animation is good, it will take some ge...

KUNG FU/ ANIME OF THE MONTH REVIEW#1

Posted by Lowcountry Anime and Gaming on May 5, 2011 at 12:34 PM Comments comments (0)

The first Wednesday of the month, we watch a Kung Fu or anime movie from FUNimation. This will be the first of many reviews that I will do on the movies we watch.

This months movie was Goemon.

It is 1582 and Japan's stingiest warlord Oda Nobunaga falls victim to an assassin's plot and is succeeded by his right-hand man, Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Times are hard, and the gap between rich and poor is vast. Trying to bridge it is the master thief Goemon who shares his takings with the less ...

Doom's Netflix Movie of the week

Posted by Christopher John LeBeau on April 29, 2011 at 5:03 PM Comments comments (1)

Ip Man

Kung- Fu action at it's best. The First Five minutes of this movie are worth it all, action packed! Donnie Yen shines on this one just like he did in Iron Monkey. The fight scenes will have you saying "ooohhhh snap!" out loud. Check it out on Netflix while you can. So says Doom!

a semi-biographical account of Yip Man, the first martial arts master to teach the Chinese martial art of Wing Chun.

Director: Wilson Yip

Writer: Edmond Wong (screenplay)

Sucker Punch- review, by Dondi Wiggins
